The Theme of Black Leadership in Invisible Man Essay -- Ralph Ellison,

â Ralph Ellison's enthusiasm for powerful dark administration is straightforwardly reflected in Invisible Man. The portrayal of Bledsoe in the start of the story is that of a savagely self-serving dark pioneer (McSweeny). In part five, a mythic model for dark authority is delineated in the tribute of the organizer of the school, which is given by Homer A. Barbee (McSweeny). While Invisible Man is dwelling in the condo of Mary Rambo, she penetrates into his head the significance of initiative and obligation. In section thirteen the annoyance of the group viewing the expulsion starts to rise, and as one spectator sees that All they need is a pioneer (Ellison 274). These occasions lead to Invisible Man's first demonstration of authority when he conveys an unconstrained discourse to the group. Undetectable Man comes to understand that the crucial issue standing up to a potential dark pioneer is the absence of a foundation (McSweeny). He states, ...we had no cash, no insight device, either in government, business or in trade guilds; and no interchanges with our own kin excep...

With a Focus on Gender or Race

Ditty COLLINS STUDENT †11423048 1 With an attention on sexual orientation or race, talk about whether the criminal equity framework is one-sided. Society anticipates that the criminal equity framework should give equity to everybody by securing the honest, to rebuff and convict the blameworthy, and to restore them trying to stop them reoffending. It should give reasonable equity for everybody, paying little heed to sex, however much is composed that proposes that the criminal equity framework is sexual orientation one-sided. Sexual orientation inclination was not shaped by the equity framework, however it reflects the principal conditions and perspectives of society. The cost of sex predisposition to society, the criminal equity framework, and to the individuals inside it is huge. To examine if the criminal equity framework is sexual orientation one-sided, a comprehension ought to be reached with respect to what is implied by the term 'sex'. The word sexual orientation can be har d to characterize, and furthermore how it varies from the term 'sex'. While the term 'sex' alludes to the mental and organic physiognomies that depict people, the term 'sexual orientation' (The Free online Dictionary) alludes to the jobs that society considers to be suitable for people, for example, exercises and behaviours.Categories of sex are 'manly' and 'feminine’ while sex classes are 'male' and 'female'. A few creators accept that the expansion of females insulting has expanded due to the 'masculinization' of women’s conduct during the Women’s Liberation Movement during the 1970s, and is answerable for the expanding quantities of ladies carrying out wrongdoings. (Heidensohn, 1989; Adler, 1975). Parts of sex don't fluctuate between human social orders, however parts of sexual orientation might be altogether different (Bryant and Trueman, 2000).Sex-generalizations are supposed to be fundamental to sex, which can be characterized as the practices, mentalities , jobs and convictions that are passed from age to age (Weinrich, CAROL COLLINS STUDENT †11423048 2 1980). Predisposition is characterized as a tendency or inclination that represses impartial judgment. There are two perspectives concerning whether people are dealt with distinctively by the courts and the police. The first is the gallantry speculation, which is that ladies are treated with more regard, compassion and courtesy. It is expressed in the valor hypothesis that more tolerance is given to ladies than to men by the police, courts and the criminal equity framework when all is said in done. It is said that male gallantry implies that a lady is less inclined to be charged by the police, and that the courts give lesser sentences to ladies than men, regardless of whether they have carried out a similar wrongdoing as male partners. Ladies who are sent to jail frequently get shorter sentences than men which implies that ladies are dealt with all the more tolerantly (Heidensohn, 2002).Some creators express that the valor speculation gets not all that significant if the violations submitted are the equivalent, and condemning differs next to no between the genders. It tends to be contended that the valor speculation possibly works if the guilty party fits what is viewed as the female cliché, gendered job. The second perspective on various sexual orientation treatment is the point at which a lady doesn't fit the generalization of what are female standards, this 'twofold jeopardy’ hypothesis gets pertinent, which brings about a lot harsher condemning (Carlen, 1985).It can be contended that now and again that ladies are dealt with all the more seriously by the criminal equity framework since ladies are blameworthy of been doubly freak; by perpetrating a wrongdoing they have not carried on in a manner that is respected to be a socially typical path for their sex to carry on. It is additionally composed that females who perpetrate forceful violations are regularly treated more seriously than men, who are forceful in light of the fact that their conduct is unique in relation to what is viewed as typical female conduct (Paul and Baenninger, 1991; Gelsthorpe, 2003).CAROL COLLINS STUDENT-11423048 3 Campbell (1993) states that fierce ladies must opponent men or be intellectually sick, since it isn't the manner by which decent young ladies ought to carry on as per Batchelor (2001). It could be seen that in certain territories the sexual orientation inclination inside the criminal equity framework that sex contention with the men has been the prevalent power. Cops and judges were met by Hedderman and Gelsthorpe (1997) and were gotten some information about the manners by which they made decisions. It is evident that ladies were given more leniencies in the event that they have youngsters, as their offenses are treated as â€Å"need more than greed†, for instance in the event that they had taken products from a shop it was on the grou nds that they required the merchandise for their family. Notwithstanding if a man had taken from a shop it would have been seen that his inspiration was one of insatiability. There is proof that the conceivable sex inclination in the criminal equity framework starts when a lady is taken to the police headquarters. Fawcett (2006) remarks that ladies feel that police headquarters are threatening spots, artly on account of the conduct and chauvinist language inside the police administration. Ladies are all in all less slanted to utilize their entitlement to have lawful portrayal, yet this might be not just in light of the fact that they are regularly accused of less genuine violations, or it could be on the grounds that they feel overpowered and threatened in the male-commanded police headquarters. Just 20% of cops are ladies, and just 18% of criminological officials are ladies. It is muddled whether cops are prepared to manage ladies who have been survivors of misuse, especially when that is relevant to the charges that have been brought against them. The Home Office expresses that ladies who are given jail sentences are given shorter sentences than their male partners. This infers ladies are dealt with all the more indulgently by the criminal equity framework. The person's history of culpable and the idea of the offense are considered, and as per the Home Office, both the higher pace of CAROL COLLINS STUDENT-11423048 4 alerts gave to ladies, and the lower pace of custodial sentences, mirror that ladies are more averse to perpetrate genuine offenses and that past criminal records are additionally taken into account.Offences that are carried out by females will in general be less genuine than those perpetrated by men, and less ladies have past criminal records. This shows, as per Trueman and Bryant (2003), there isn't any thoughtful predisposition towards ladies. 27% of the ladies who are in jail are first-time guilty parties, which is more than double the figure for men. This proposes men affronting just because are dealt with more tolerantly than ladies. 63% of ladies are carrying out custodial jail punishments for peaceful violations, as opposed to 45% of men in jail. This recommends ladies are sent to jail for far less genuine violations than men.According to the 2001 enumeration, ladies spoke to 51. 3% of the number of inhabitants in England and Wales, however just 6. 1% of the jail populace were ladies. It expresses that more ladies are probably going to be given network sentences, or to be released, and that they are significantly less prone to be given a custodial sentence than men (Home Office, 2003). Just 8% of the aggregate sum of individuals condemned to a custodial jail sentence in 2001 was ladies. Over the most recent ten years there has been an expansion in the female jail populace by 60% contrasted with an increment of 28% for men.The rise is clarified by an increment in the seriousness of the sentences given. It is conceivab le that the presentation in 1997 of The Mandatory and Minimum Sentencing Act put limitations on decided from utilizing their own carefulness when passing sentences. It is accepted that the jail framework in the United Kingdom was intended for men by men (Corston, 2007). Sex issues mess up ladies as well as for the trans-sexual detainees. New jail rules in 2006 were acquainted with change parts of the jail framework so as to decrease sex predisposition towards trans-sexual individuals.Sir David CAROL COLLINS STUDENT-11423048 5 Ramsbotham, jail monitor in 2000, expressed that trans-sexual detainees were in danger of genuine medical issues because of the inclination against them that they had been denied treatment, and he expressed that they ought to be given a similar treatment as every other person. As less ladies go to jail than men, there is a male-commanded jail framework. Because of this, there is victimization ladies in the jail framework. There are fourteen women’s detai nment facilities in England, are there are none in Wales (Prison Reform Trust, 2010).This proposes that for ladies to be sent to a women’s jail it is plausible that they might be imprisoned a significant distance away from their families, causing separation and enthusiastic pressure (Women in Prison, 2006). A lady is detained on normal 57 miles from their committal address, and in 2007 more than 800 ladies was held in excess of 100 miles away. This additionally recommends ladies are frequently detained in a higher evaluation jail than they should be in. Because of the way that there are less women’s detainment facilities than men’s penitentiaries, there are far less open doors, for example, preparing or training (Hayes, 2007).Over the previous ten years the media has concentrated on numerous dubious issues inside ladies jails with TV narratives, for example, 'Young ladies in a correctional facility', 2011. The papers have utilized title texts, for example, 'Ladi es consume, choke and wound themselves in prison damnation' (Bright, 2004). In the narratives, any of the issues raised were in a roundabout way an aftereffect of sexual orientation inclination and the impact that it can have on the ladies detainees inside the criminal equity framework. A significant part of the accentuation of the projects was about the dysfunctional behavior that is brought about by the absence of appropriate detainment facilities and facilities. This thus frequently prompts self-hurt, medicate misuse and self destruction. There is proof that recommends that sexual orientation predisposition likewise exists in the criminal equity framework against ladies who are casualties of assault. It is accepted that in assault preliminaries it is the female assault casualty who is caused to feel that she is being investigated more than the male suspect (Walklate, 1989). Ditty CO

Individuals vs Society Theme in Romeo and Juliet Essay Example For Students

People versus Society Theme in Romeo and Juliet Essay In the time of Rome and Juliets creation, numerous estimations of society were unique in relation to those we can see in cutting edge life. Ladies didn't have equivalent rights, fathers had significantly greater authority over their youngsters and organized relationships were as yet drilled. A major factor was people groups Christian confidence; it was a lot more grounded back then so the congregation assumed an immense job in the public arena. There are heaps of components that add to the result of the play and these can be isolated into Generic variables and society and qualities. In present day families, guardians will in general have authority over the family unit. They don't drive the kids to wed or power their life choices upon them yet they have an inconspicuous yet firm handle on their childrens lives. They utilize this grip to manage, not to compel their youngsters. Be that as it may, in the hour of Romeo and Juliet, the guardians had authority over the family unit, the dad more so than the mother. They would advise their youngsters how to live. We see proof of this in Act III Scene v when Capulet examines marriage with Juliet. He is vexed to hear that she wouldn't like to proceed with her masterminded marriage. Capulet: Hang thee youthful stuff, insubordinate rapscallion! I tell thee what: get thee to chapel a Thursday, Or never after look me in the face Wife, we rare idea us fortunate That God had loaned us however this lone kid, But now I see this one will be one to an extreme, And that we have a revile in having her. Out on her, hilding! This appears to be an extremely intense response however it shows how much control a dad viewed himself as to have, and exactly how significant he believed it to be. This sort of controlling conduct added significantly to the catastrophe at long last. The respect of the family name was vital during the hour of the play. It spoke to your history and legacy, what your identity was and your situation in the public eye. An individual would put everything on the line to maintain the respect in their name, particularly Tybalt. The Montagues and the Capulets were both high up in the social pecking order, as is expressed in the preface Two family units, both the same in respect. They had a ton to protect yet they entrapped in an old resentment. They had a little contention with one another and this had gotten intense when Romeo and Juliet had met. The play starts with the two families fighting in the roads and the sovereign at that point says If ever you upset our lanes again, Your lives will pay the relinquish of the harmony. A battle breaks out in Act III Sc I, which brings about the passings of Tybalt and Mercutio. There was a course of occasions prompting this. Romeo and his companions hosted sneaked into the Capulets get-together, Tybalt saw Romeo there and needed to battle him, however his uncle berated him, He will be suffered Tybalt was irate with Romeo after this for making a joke of his family and for pushing him into difficulty with his uncle. He needed to battle him much more. This was after Romeo has hitched Juliet, so Tybalt doesn't have the foggiest idea about that Romeo was regarding his better half by not battling an individual from her family. Romeo says Tybalt, the explanation that I need to adore thee Doth much reason the applying fury to such a welcome Tybalt answers Boy, this will not pardon the wounds thou hast done me, along these lines turn and draw. Mercutio feels that this risk to Romeo is inadmissible and challenges Tybalt, O quiet, disgraceful, abominable accommodation! After M ercutio guards Romeo and battles Tybalt, Mercutio is executed. Out of dedication to his companion and outrage, Romeo executes Tybalt to retaliate for Mercutios demise. .u109e8024efd7fabee4d8048c3216ea95 , .u109e8024efd7fabee4d8048c3216ea95 .postImageUrl , .u109e8024efd7fabee4d8048c3216ea95 .focused content region { min-stature: 80px; position: relative; } .u109e8024efd7fabee4d8048c3216ea95 , .u109e8024efd7fabee4d8048c3216ea95:hover , .u109e8024efd7fabee4d8048c3216ea95:visited , .u109e8024efd7fabee4d8048c3216ea95:active { border:0!important; } .u109e8024efd7fabee4d8048c3216ea95 .clearfix:after { content: ; show: table; clear: both; } .u109e8024efd7fabee4d8048c3216ea95 { show: square; change: foundation shading 250ms; webkit-progress: foundation shading 250ms; width: 100%; murkiness: 1; change: haziness 250ms; webkit-change: mistiness 250ms; foundation shading: #95A5A6; } .u109e8024efd7fabee4d8048c3216ea95:active , .u109e8024efd7fabee4d8048c3216ea95:hover { darkness: 1; change: obscurity 250ms; webkit-progress: haziness 250ms; foundation shading: #2C3E50; } .u109e8024efd7fabee4d8048c3216ea95 .focused content zone { width: 100%; position: relative; } .u109e8024efd7fabee4d8048c3216ea95 .ctaText { fringe base: 0 strong #fff; shading: #2980B9; text dimension: 16px; textual style weight: intense; edge: 0; cushioning: 0; content improvement: underline; } .u109e8024efd7fabee4d8048c3216ea95 .postTitle { shading: #FFFFFF; text dimension: 16px; text style weight: 600; edge: 0; cushioning: 0; width: 100%; } .u109e8024efd7fabee4d8048c3216ea95 .ctaButton { foundation shading: #7F8C8D!important; shading: #2980B9; outskirt: none; fringe span: 3px; box-shadow: none; text dimension: 14px; text style weight: striking; line-tallness: 26px; moz-fringe sweep: 3px; content adjust: focus; content beautification: none; content shadow: none; width: 80px; min-stature: 80px; foundation: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/modules/intelly-related-posts/resources/pictures/basic arrow.png)no-rehash; position: outright; right: 0; top: 0; } .u109e8024efd7fabee4d8048c3216ea95:hover .ctaButton { foundation shading: #34495E!important; } .u109e8024efd7fabee4d 8048c3216ea95 .focused content { show: table; tallness: 80px; cushioning left: 18px; top: 0; } .u109e8024efd7fabee4d8048c3216ea95-content { show: table-cell; edge: 0; cushioning: 0; cushioning right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-adjust: center; width: 100%; } .u109e8024efd7fabee4d8048c3216ea95:after { content: ; show: square; clear: both; } READ: Charles Dickens exposition - Oliver TwistPerhaps if family respect had not been so genuine, Mercutio and Tybalt would have lived and furthermore Romeo and Juliet could have damaged one another. Additionally, if these occasions had not occurred, Juliets organized marriage would not have been pushed forward by her dad. Before these occasions Lord Capulet said that she was excessively youthful. We see a few distinct kinds of steadfastness which add to the result, Romeos dedication to his better half, Tybalts reliability to his family and Mercutios unwaveringness to his companion. In Act I Scene ii Romeo meets Capulets worker. The worker had been given the list of attendees of the gathering and has been advised to discover all the individuals on it, just he couldnt read. He expected to discover what their identity was, so he approached Romeo to peruse it for him. Romeo saw that Rosaline (the young lady he enjoyed) was welcomed so he chose to go. This shows instruction was a major factor supposing that the worker was had have had the option to peruse, Romeo would not host gone to the gathering and met Juliet. Marriage was viewed as significant back then. A lady would have no respect on the off chance that she was not hitched. This is somewhat why a dad would organize his girls marriage. Additionally, individuals didn't get separated in Verona since they were Catholic. Juliets orchestrated marriage was additionally in light of Tybalts passing, her folks figured it would perk her up and unite the family in their season of complaint, we see this in Act III Scene v. Woman Capulet: Find thou means, and Ill find such a man But now Ill tell thee blissful greetings young lady Well, well, thou hast a cautious dad, kid, one who, to put thee from thy greatness, hath sifted through an unexpected day of euphoria On the off chance that marriage was viewed as a bond between two individuals who love each other instead of only a womans pass to respect, or, for this situation, a convenient solution for Juliets sorrow then Juliets marriage would not have been masterminded and the families would have acknowledged Romeo and Juliets love, if the fight had not existed. Individuals were incredibly committed to religion (Christianity) at the hour of Romeo and Juliet. It additionally has a major influence in Romeo and Juliets relationship. Juliet went to Friar Lawrence when her dad advised her to wed Paris. In Act II Scene v we consider blaming to be while she proceeded to wed Romeo. Attendant: Have you leave to go to confession today? Juliet: I have Attendant: Then hie you subsequently to Friar Lawrences cell, there remains a spouse to make you a wife. Both Romeo and Juliet were close with Friar Lawrence; this is somewhat why he consented to wed the pair since he figured it will fix relations between the quarreling family units. In the wake of wedding them, the Friar felt bound to keep them together, so when Romeo got expelled and Juliet should wed Paris, he detailed an arrangement to bring Romeo and Juliet back together, yet when the Friar endeavored to send Romeo a letter it didnt arrive in light of the fact that the individual he had requested to convey the letter couldnt traverse a towns entryway because of the episode of the plague at that point. This lead to inconvenience when Romeo discovered that Juliet was dead (some portion of the Friars plan was to give her toxic substance which caused her to appear to be dead for twenty four hours). Romeo returned to Verona and slaughtered himself, at that point Juliet woke up to discover Romeo dead she likewise murdered herself. A few elements added to this specific piece of the play, one being the plague. On the off chance that individuals of the time had not been so strict, Romeo and Juliet would not have been so close with Friar Lawrence, at that point they might not have had the option to get hitched in any case. Romeo and Juliet felt it important to get hitched on the grounds that they believed they were enamored and their religion expressed that they couldn't be as one of every a physical sense until they were hitched. .uc8c8d21784bce8e075c5e7ae178695ad , .uc8c8d21784bce8e075c5e7ae178695ad .postImageUrl , .uc8c8d21784bce8e075c5e7ae178695ad .focused content zone { min-stature: 80px; position: relative; } .uc8c8d21784bce8e075c5e7ae178695ad , .uc8c8d21784bce8e075c5e7ae178695ad:hover , .uc8c8d21784bce8e075c5e7ae178695ad:visited , .uc8c8d21784bce8e075c5e7ae178

The Return: Midnight Chapter 8

Damon gestured astute y, looking to and fro between the battling fight and the pil owcase in his grasp. Hadn't he presumed something like this for quite a while? Subliminally? After al , there had been that assault on the granddad, which had neglected to either kil him or to eradicate his memory totally. Damon's creative mind could fil in the rest: her folks seeing no motivation to curse their minor girl's existence with this horrifying business †a totally different difference in view †and afterward surrendering the training in the common, ensured little town of Fel ‘s Church. On the off chance that they had just known. Goodness, certainly they had ensured that Meredith had self-preservation and different hand to hand fighting preparing since she was a kid, while swearing her to total mystery †even from her closest companions. Wel , now, Damon thought. The first of Shinichi's questions was at that point explained. â€Å"One of you has a lifetime mystery kept from everyone.† I generally knew there was something in particular about this girl†¦and this is it. I'd wager my life that she's a dark belt. There had been a long quietness. Presently Damon broke it. Your progenitors were trackers as well? he asked, as though she were clairvoyant. He held up a second †stil quietness. Alright †no clairvoyance. That was acceptable. He gestured at the eminent fight. â€Å"That was unquestionably made for a master or lady.† Meredith wasn't dumb. She talked without looking ceaselessly from his eyes. She was prepared, at any moment, to go into kil ing mode. â€Å"We're simply conventional society, attempting to complete an occupation so guiltless people wil be safer.† â€Å"By kil ing the odd vampire or two.† â€Å"Wel , so far in written history saying ‘Naughty, shrewd, Mama spank'has neglected to change over a solitary vampire to vegetarianism.† Damon needed to giggle. â€Å"Pity you weren't brought into the world early enough to change over Stefan. He could have been your excellent triumph.† â€Å"You believe that is interesting. Be that as it may, we do have converts.† â€Å"Yes. Individuals wil state anything while you're holding a sharp stick at them.† â€Å"People who feel that it's inappropriate to Influence others into accepting they're getting something for nothing.† â€Å"That's it! Meredith! Let me Influence you!† This time it was Meredith who giggled. â€Å"No, I'm not kidding! At the point when I'm a vampire once more, let me Influence you not to be such a great amount of terrified of a nibble. I swear I won't take in excess of a teaspoon. However, that would give personal time to show you †â€Å" â€Å"A huge place of treats that never existed? A relative who kicked the bucket ten years prior and who might have despised the idea of you taking my memory of her and utilizing it as a draw? A fantasy about closure world yearning that doesn't place nourishment into one mouth?† This young lady, thought Damon, is hazardous. It resembles a Counter-Influence that they've instructed to their individuals. Needing her to see that vampires, or ex-vampires, or Once and Future Vampires had some great characteristics †like mental fortitude †he let go of the pil owcase and got a handle on the finish of the battling fight with two hands. Meredith raised an eyebrow. â€Å"Did I not simply as of late tel you that some of those spikes you've quite recently crashed into your substance are harmful? Or then again were you not listening?† She had automatical y snatched the fight as wel , over the hazardous zone. â€Å"You told me,†he said incomprehensibly †he trusted. â€Å"I especially said ‘poisonous to people as wel as to werewolves and other things' †recal it?† â€Å"You revealed to me that, as well. In any case, I'd preferably bite the dust over live as a human, so: Let the games begin.†And with that, Damon started to push the two-made a beeline for Meredith's heart. She quickly braced down on the fight as wel , pushing it back toward him. Be that as it may, he had three points of interest, as the two of them before long figured it out. He was marginally tal er and more unequivocally ripped even than agile, athletic Meredith; he had a more drawn out reach than hers; and he had taken up a considerably more forceful position. Despite the fact that he could feel harmed little spikes gnawing into his palms, he push advance and up until the kil ing point was by and by close to her heart. Meredith pushed back with an astonishing measure of solidarity and afterward out of nowhere, by one way or another, they were even once more. Damon looked up to perceive how that had occurred, and saw, to his stun, that she likewise had gotten a handle on the fight in the kil ing zone. Presently her hands were dribbling blood onto the floor similarly as his were. â€Å"Meredith!† â€Å"What? I accept my position seriously.† Regardless of her ploy, he was more grounded. Inch by inch, he constrained his torn palms to hold tight, his arms to apply pressure. Furthermore, inch by inch she was constrained in reverse, declining to stop †until there was no more space to back up. What's more, there they stood, the whole length of the fight among them, and the cooler level against Meredith's back. Al Damon could consider was Elena. In the event that he by one way or another endure this †and Meredith didn't †at that point what might those malachite eyes state to him? How might he live with what they said? And afterward, with rankling timing, similar to a chess player thumping over her own ruler, Meredith let go of the lance, yielding Damon's boss quality. After which, appearing to have no dread of betraying him, she took a container ful of balm from a kitchen cabinet, scooped out a dol operation of the substance, and motioned for Damon to hold out his hands. He grimaced. He'd never known about a toxic substance that got into the blood that could be restored by outside measures. â€Å"I didn't place genuine toxin in the human needles,†she said serenely. â€Å"But your palms wil be torn and this is an exceed expectations ent cure. It's antiquated, went down for generations.† â€Å"How sort of you to share,† †at his most forcefully unexpected. â€Å"And now what are we going to do? Begin al once again again?†he added as Meredith tranquilly scoured balm into her own hands. â€Å"No. Tracker slayers have a code, you know. You won the circle. I accept that you're intending to do what Sage appears to have done. Open the Gate to the Dark Dimension.† â€Å"Open the Gate to the Dark Dimensions,†he adjusted. â€Å"Probably I ought to have referenced †there's mutiple. However, al I need is to turn into a vampire once more. What's more, we can talk as we go, since I see we're both wearing our feline robber costumes.† Meredith was dressed much as he might have been, in dark pants and a lightweight dark sweater. With her long sparkling dim hair she looked surprisingly excellent. Damon, who had considered running her through with the fight, similarly as his commitment to vampire-kind, presently ended up faltering. On the off chance that she gave him no difficulty on his way to the Gate, he would release her, he chose. He was feeling charitable †just because he had looked down and vanquished the fearsome Meredith, what's more, she had a code as he did. He felt a kind of family relationship with her. With unexpected lady antry, he waved her on before him, holding ownership of the pil owcase and the battling fight himself. As Damon discreetly shut the front entryway he saw that first light was going to break. Impeccable planning. The fight got the main beams of light. â€Å"I have an inquiry for you,†he said to Meredith's long, luxurious dim hair. â€Å"You said that you didn't locate this stunning fight until after Klaus †that devilish Old One †was dead. Be that as it may, in case you're from a tracker slayer family you may have been more assistance in getting him dispatched. Like referencing that lone white debris could kil him.† â€Å"It was on the grounds that my folks didn't effectively seek after the privately-owned company †they didn't have the foggiest idea. They were both from tracker families, obviously †you must be, to keep it out of the sensationalist newspapers and †â€Å" † †police documents †â€Å" â€Å"Do you need me to talk, or would you be able to do your exceptional routine alone?† â€Å"Point taken† †hauling the amazingly pointed fight. â€Å"I'l listen.† â€Å"But despite the fact that they decided not to be dynamic, they realized that a vampire or werewolf may choose to single out their little girl in the event that they discovered her personality. So during school, I took ‘harpsichord lessons'and ‘riding lessons'one day seven days each †have done since I was three. I'm a Black Belt Shihan, and a Taekwondo Saseung. I may begin Dragon Kung Fu †â€Å" â€Å"Point taken again. Yet, at that point how precisely did you locate that stunning kil ing stick?† â€Å"After Klaus was dead, while Stefan was watching, out of nowhere Grandpa began talking †simply single words †however it caused me to go look in our loft. I discovered this.† â€Å"So you truly don't have a clue how to utilize it?† â€Å"I'd quite recently begun rehearsing when Shinichi turned up. Be that as it may, no, I don't genuine y understand. I'm really acceptable with a bo staff, however, so I simply use it like that.† â€Å"You didn't utilize it like a bo staff on me.† â€Å"I was planning to convince you, not kil you. I was unable to consider how to disclose to Elena that I'd broken al your bones.† Damon shielded himself from snickering †scarcely. â€Å"So how did a few latent tracker slayers wind up moving to a town on two or three hundred intersection ley lines?† â€Å"I'm speculating they didn't have the foggiest idea what a line of characteristic Power was. What's more, Fel ‘s Church looked smal and serene †back then.† They found the Gateway similarly as Damon had seen it previously, a slick rectangular piece cut out of the earth, around five feet down. â€Å"Now plunk down there,†he entreated Meredith, putting her on the contrary corner from where he lay the fight. â€Å"Have you given an idea †even the briefest †with regards to what wil happen to Misao on the off chance that you spill out all the fluid in there?† â€Å"Actual y, not one. What To Know Before Cosigning a Student Loan

HomeFinanceFinancial aidWhat to Know Before Cosigning a Student LoanThis page may contain affiliate links.Nov 8, 2019Thinking of cosigning a student loan for your child or spouse? Before signing on the dotted line and saying â€Å"yes, there are some important things to consider first. What Is a Cosigner? A cosigner is someone who agrees to sign for another borrowers loan. That borrower may be your child or spouse, and as a cosigner you’re legally responsible for repaying the debt if payments are not made. Cosigners typically have good credit and can score the primary borrower a better interest rate. Although that’s great for the primary borrower, make sure it’s the right situation for you. Federal vs. Private Student Loans In many cases, federal student loans don’t require a cosigner. However, there are some exceptions. One instance is if the primary borrower is applying for Direct Parent PLUS loans and has not-so-great credit. In that case, an â€Å"endorser† — basically a cosigner — can endorse the loan and agree to pay it back in case of non-repayment. Private student loans, on the other hand, often require a cosigner. In fact, the most recent data shows that 90 percent of private loans have cosigners. Since many young adults have no or limited credit history, having a cosigner can help the primary borrower get approved for a private loan and potentially get approved for a better interest rate. Additionally, refinancing student loans may require a cosigner — or at least help the borrower get a lower rate and save money on interest. But cosigning a refinancing loan can be a bad idea. Since the primary borrower is not eligible on their own (not good) and even then, if they only score a 1% to 2% interest rate reduction, it’s likely not worth the risk for the borrower or cosigner. Refinancing federal loans means that borrowers are giving up federal protections. And as a cosigner, the minimal interest savings might not be worth being on the hook for the entire loan if the borrower fails to make payments. Cosigning a Student Loan: Pros and Cons If you’re going to be legally on the hook for a student loan balance, carefully look at the pros and cons of cosigning first. Pros: Helping the primary borrower get approved for student loans Helping the primary borrower secure a lower interest rate Cons: Legally responsible for the debt if the primary borrower stops making payments Late payments also end up hurting your credit In many ways, being a cosigner is an act of generosity toward the primary borrower. Whether you want to help out your child or your spouse, the main benefits of cosigning goes to them and you’re stuck with most of the risk. This financial risk can strain the best of relationships — even between a parent and child, and among spouses. When It Makes Sense to Cosign a Student Loan If your child or spouse is applying for private student loans with a high interest rate of 8% or higher and they have a good payment record, being a cosigner can be a good idea. If you have great credit, acting as a cosigner can help them lower their interest rate, which lowers overall costs of the loan. In an ideal world, you’re simply using your good credit to score a better rate and boost approval odds and that’s it. The reality is that life happens, and you and the primary borrower can’t anticipate a job loss or costly expense that might impact loan payments in the future. If a worst case scenario comes up, you should feel entirely comfortable with the idea of essentially â€Å"gifting† the loan amount to the primary borrower, if it comes to that. When Cosigning Student Loans Gets Complicated When you are a loan cosigner, you might just think that you’re using your credit to help your child or spouse get a loan. But there are situations that can complicate the matter. For example, if you cosign a spouse’s student loan and get divorced, you’ll still be on the hook, even after you part ways. Your name will still be on the loan and if your ex misses a payment, your credit could take a hit. It can get messy. If the primary borrower unexpectedly dies and you cosigned a federal student loan, the good news is there will be a death discharge. But if you cosigned a private student loan and the primary borrower dies, it may be a different story. You may be on the hook for a private student loan that you cosigned, even after the primary borrower passes away. This varies by lender so you will want to check for a death discharge option from the lender. [Check our comparison of private student lender features to see which lenders have a death discharge option and which do not.] One way to protect yourself is by getting a life insurance policy on the primary borrower for the sum of the student loans, and in the case of death, you’ll have life insurance to cover the loans. Also, at some point, you will want to see if the primary borrower qualifies for cosigner release. Each lender has various requirements, but typically the primary borrower needs to demonstrate ability to pay and have good credit to be approved for cosigner release. Cosigner release relieves the cosigner from the loan so they’re no longer responsible Use Caution As a Cosigner If after calculating different repayment options, you find that cosigning on a student loan makes sense despite the risks, use caution and read the fine print so you know what you’re getting into. Make sure the savings are worth years of financial responsibility on your end.

A Project Management Assignment Focusing On The Project Scheduling - 2750 Words

A Project Management Assignment Focusing On The Project Scheduling (Coursework Sample) Content: INSTITUTION: TOPIC: ASSIGNMENT 1-50% STUDENT NAME: STUDENT ID NO: DATE: Assignment Outline This assignment is based on a project case study to be undertaken by Air Control Company. It explore the construction, and use of network diagram in project scheduling. Firstly, this assignment involved constructing the network diagram based on the precedence table given. Secondly, from the constructed diagram different project times are determined namely; earliest start (ES), earliest finish (EF), latest start (LS) and latest finish (LF). Thirdly, the slack/float for each of the activities is determined and then the total project effort and duration is calculated. Fourthly, the critical path in the network diagram is computed and effect of delaying this path on project timeline explored. Fifthly, significance of having a network diagram in a project is illustrated. Sixthly, a number of ways of reducing project duration are enumerated and explained. Lastly, different ways of projects acceleration when resources are constrained and when resources are not constrained are critically discussed. SOLUTION 1 Using the precedence table provided a network diagram is constructed as shown. His network diagram is drawn based on critical path method(CPM) CITATION Cha17 \l 1089 (Rayadurg, 2017). B (15) 17862551079500 23958558699500 9189573241300 C (10) 29959301460500024911054127500 1021513666750050038018071700A (2) 340550515811500 F (15) G (10) 1069340148590004691380698500 39674807493000 898748196290029688194949500507238016192500 D (13) 24149059080500 483425515684500 E (18) H (5) 2367280889000 2948724107240051631855016500 498348014478000 I (0) Note that I have introduced the activity I in the network diagram, which has a duration of zero to symbol end of the project. 1 Earliest Start (ES) – 5 marks Let ESi be the earliest start the project will commence for any activity i when all that activities before it have been completed. The values of the earliest start ESi (i=A, B,†¦,I) are determined by moving forward, from left to right, in the network diagram CITATION Ale17 \l 1089 (Puscasu, 2017) CITATION JEB16 \l 1089 (Beasley, 2016). Also let Ti be the time it takes to complete any activity i ( e.g. TB ). Also assume the start time of the project is zero days. Then the ESi are calculated as: ESA=0 ESB= ESA+ TA=0+2=2 ESC= ESA+ TA=0+2=2 ESD= ESA+ TA=0+2=2 ESE= ESA+ TA=0+2=2 ESF=max[ESC+ TC, ESD+ TD =max2+10,2+13=15 ESG=max[ESB+ TB, ESF+ TF =max2+15, 15+15=30 ESH=max[ESG+ TG, ESE+ TE =max30+10,2+18=40 ESI= ESH+ TH=40+5=45 2 Earliest Finish (EF) Note that the earliest finish time is calculated from the earliest start time of a particular activity. It is given by: EFi= ESi+ Ti i.e. the activity duration in each of network path are added to the early start( ES+ Duration= EF) EFA=0+2=2 EFB= ESB+ TB=2+15=17 EFC= ESC+ TC=2+10=12 EFD= ESD+ TD=2+13=15 EFE= ESE+ TE=2+18=20 EFF= ESF+ TF=15+15=30 EFG= ESG+ TG=30+10=40 EFH= ESH+ TH=40+5=45 EFI= ESI+ TI=45+0=45 3 Latest Start (LS) Let LSi be the earliest start the project will commence for activity i such that all its preceding activities have been finished. We calculate the values of the LSi (i=A, B,†¦,I) by going backward, from right to left, in the network diagram CITATION JEB16 \l 1089 (Beasley, 2016). The earliest start time is therefore given by LS of previous activity – Duration of activity. LSI=45 LSH=LSI-TH=45-5=40 LSG=LSH-TG=40-10=30 LSF=LSH-TF=40-15=25 LSE=LSH-TE=40-18=22 LSD=LSF-TD=25-13=12 LSC=LSF-TC=25-10=15 LSB=LSG-TB=30-15=15 LSA=min⠁ ¡[ LSB-TA,LSC-TA,LSD-TA,LSE-TA] LSA=min15-2,15-2,12-2,22-2=10 4 Latest Finish (LF) The latest finish(LF) is taken as the latest start(LS) of the prior activity to the current activity in the network diagram. Therefore, using the latest starts obtained in part c the latest start for he activities are as indicated below: LFI=45 LFH=LSI=45 LFG=LSH=30 LFF=LSH=30 LFE=LSF=25 LFD=LSE=22 LFC=LSD=12 LFB=LSG=15 LFA=LSB=15 5 Slack/Float on each activity From a and c we know the earliest start time and latest start time therefore we can determine slack or float time for any activity given by Fi=LSi-ESi . Where float is the time a particular task or activity can be delayed without a resultant on the successive activities connected to it. Therefore, float will show the increase that can be made on the duration of any particular activity without any change in the project completion time. From formula of float time the table below is formulated. As a check all float values should be = 0. Activity Latest start time(LSi) Earliest Start time(ESi) Float Fi=LSi-ESi A 10 0 10 B 15 2 13 C 15 2 13 D 12 2 10 E 22 2 20 F 25 15 10 G 30 30 0 H 40 40 O 6 Total effort and duration of the project -5marks The total project duration may be obtained by determining the path with the longest duration, this will give us the shortest possible time the project will take. Determining, the length of each path as: Path A,B,G,H=2+15+10+5=32 Path A,C,F,G,H=2+10+15+10+5=42 Path A,D,F,G,H=2+13+15+10+5=45 Path A,D,H=2+18+5=25 The total duration= 45 days Total Effort Total Effort = Number of work hours or man-hours Assuming the maximum work hour per day is 8 hours. Therefore, Total effort = Duration* workhours= 45Ãâ€"8=360 work hours 7 Compute critical path and discuss impacts of activities on critical path being delayed The critical path refers to the network path(s) that has(have) the least slack/float From the float table in e the critical path is A, D, F, G, H. Also by using the network diagram, the critical path can be computed by determining the longest path. By tabulation: Path A,B,G,H=2+15+10+5=32 Path A,C,F,G,H=2+10+15+10+5=42 Path A,D,F,G,H=2+13+15+10+5=45 Path A,D,H=2+18+5=25 From the tabulation above the critical patch is Path A, D, F, G, H. This is because it has the longest duration. Delaying any activity on the critical path lead to the project being delayed hence deadline not met. This is because the activities on the critical path has no float or slack and it has the longest duration in the project hence cannot be delayed. The delay of any activity on the critical however can be compensated for by using different duration reduction techniques such as fast-tracking, crashing and compression of schedule tools. 8 Provide a brief interpretation of the network diagram explaining what does it indicate, what significance does it have on the entire project etc. The network diagram makes it easy to visualize the important tasks of the project. The network diagram provides a visual indicator of the overall project separated in predecessor and successors which are vital for the completion of the particular project. The network diagram helps to determine the critical path which has the activities that cannot be delayed. It also helps in determining the free float and total float in a project. Therefore, the network diagram helps us to ensure all the project is completed within stipulated timeline. There network diagram is significant as it enables the project managers and team to know which activity may lag behind, are they on the right track, if not how best can they adjust the schedule to maintain the project duration. Therefore, the network diagram is important in meeting the entire project timeline. 1 Normally, when projects are finished on the agreed project deadline, all stakeholders are generally very happy. However, in certain situations, it is required to shorten the project duration, and that means the deadline has to be preponed. Assuming you are managing such a project, critically discuss the different ways of reducing the project duration. [750 words] (30 marks) Reducing Duration of Project There are different ways of reducing project duration as numerated and discussed below; * Establishing the project scope prior to project commencement time CITATION Ala14 \l 1089 (Zucker, 2014) This is important because it minimises the non-productive time during project commencement time. It is usually done before the project team is assembled. This ensure when the team is assembled to commence on the project productive is guaranteed from first day. This also ensure some project requirements start prior to the first day of the project starting. * Elimination of False Dependencies CITATION Ala14 \l 1089 (Zucker, 2014) For any project activity there must be a predecessor and successor which create dependencies during the project. This is because the first task must be completed before the commencement of the second activity. In the actual project implementation, much of the activity is carried out in parallel with others. They are usually expressed as finish to finish or lagged finish-to-start tasks CITATION Ala14 \l 1089 (Zucker, 2014) For instance, assuming I have involved in software projects, dependencies are usually experienced between the phases of the project. Requirement approvals are done before starting the design, design has to be finished before initiating coding activity etc. Therefore, if the dependencies documentation is properly done reflecting the actual activities overlap, the project duration can be reduced without negative impact on project execution. * Shave Days Managing long projects involve cheating Parkinson’s law by shaving days from the longer tasks/phases CITATION Ala14 \l 1089 (Zucker, 2014). Therefore, project duration can be reduced by asking each of the project team to determine ways or options available for reducing the duration of their long project phases and tasks. This will help to reduce the project duration wi...

Advertising And Its Effect On Our Lives - 1558 Words

Every day at some point in our lives we are surrounded by advertisements. Even if we don t watch television, listen to a radio or walk around with our eyes closed, we will find it impossible to avoid some form of social media, whether it might be the latest offer at the local Walmart or previews at the movie theater. The main purpose of advertising is to sell products, but the advertisement not only sells an individual the product, but also a future image of us as more desirable and happier. The purpose of this essay I will analyze three advertisements and observe how those products are advertised and what identity they attempt to construct for their consumers. The three ads I will be analyzing will be a commercial related to the Extra gum, a commercial for anti-smoking and a magazine advertisement related to the popular food chain McDonalds. Most people don’t want to think that advertisements have a huge impact on our lives and who we are as individual beings. The first prod uct I will talk about is the Extra gum which is a highly recognized brand. The commercial I chose to represent this brand is the one with a father and his daughter. It begins with flashes of father and daughter moments. As they spend their time laughing together and creating moments, an Extra gum is chewed and the wrapper is folded into an origami. In each passing days of the child’s growth, there was always an Extra gum. Relationship Between Economic Variables And Sub Sector Price Finance Essay - Free Essay Example

Sample details Pages: 6 Words: 1881 Downloads: 7 Date added: 2017/06/26 Category Finance Essay Type Research paper Did you like this example? This chapter provides an outline of the research process designed to investigate the relationship between economic variables and Sub-sector price index. 3.1 The Data In this section, we will summarize our models data and present the methodology of our model. The daily data for interdependent and dependable variables e.g. FBM KLSE (Kuala Lumpur Composite Index), T-Bill band 4, Crude oil WTI (West Texas Intermediate) price, Gold Bullion LBM (U$ Troy Ounce) price, T-bill band 4, Kuala Lumpur Composite Index (KLCI) price index, and Sub-sector Price Index are collected from the DataStream and cover from period 17/04/2000 to 18/04/2011. There are 2610 daily observations obtained from DataStream. The data set is given in the Appendix of this paper. In relation on this, dependable variable are consists of ten (10) majors price index e.g., Consumer Product, Plantation, Finance, Trading and Services, Industrial, Industrial Products, Construction, Mining, Properties, and Technology. As can be seen from figure 1, there is an increasing trend on global gold price and reached its the highest point, $ 1,492.06, on April, 2011. The gold price was tending to increase since year October, 2008. We believe this trend will continues increasing due to strong demand and short supply gold in the commodities market. Moreover, some expertise research firms like GFMS, a leading global precious metals consultancy, released its 2011 Gold Survey and GFMS expects that gold will reach $1,600 by the end of 2011. Another independent variable, Crude oil WTI (West Texas Intermediate) price known as Texas light sweet, is a type of crude oil used as a benchmark in oil pricing. As refer to figure 2, the oil price increase significantly during year 2007 and the reasons behind can be explained by the Asian growing demand on oil to sustain their economy growth. The past researchers also been reported, that oil consumption in India was increased approximately 8.7% according 1998 and 6.5% according to 2006. Mehmet Eryigit (2009) has studied and found that in year 2007, USA has been consumed the 23.9% of the total oil, however total share of the world oil cons umption for China, India and Turkey in 2009 is only accounted 13.4% (China consumed 9.3%, India consumed 3.3%, and Turkey consumed 0.8%). Meanwhile, back to middle of year 2008 Sub-prime crisis was happened in U.S financial system and the crude oil price has reached to a minimum price $31, that is a minimum last trader price was reported since year 2004. After decreasing trend along the year 2008, early of 2009 crude oil price are in recovery stages and maintained a reasonable price between $ 65 -$ 100 per barrels. We expect the crude oil will continue increasing. The next independent variable is Market returns FBM Kuala Lumpur Composite Index (KLCI). The Kuala Lumpur Composite Index (KLCI) is used as a proxy for the performance of the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange and comprises the largest 30 companies listed on the Main Board by full market capitalization. The last independent variable is T-Bill band 4. T-Bill band 4 is type of money market instrument. The Malaysian Treasury B ills (MTB) issued by the Central Bank of Malaysia Are tradable on yield basis (discounted rate) based on bands of remaining tenure (e.g., Band 4 = 68 to 91 days to maturity). This instrument are represents the short-term interest rate in the Malaysia money market. The high or low interest rate will make bonds look more attractive than stock and consequently impact the stock price return. Don’t waste time! Our writers will create an original "Relationship Between Economic Variables And Sub Sector Price Finance Essay" essay for you Create order Figure 1: Gold Bullion LBM (U$ Troy Ounce) Price Figure 2: Crude Oil WTI (West Texas Intermediate) Price 3.2 Conceptual Framework 1. Crude Oil WTI 2. Gold Bullion LBM (U$Troy Ounces) 3. KLSE (Kuala Lumpur Composite Index) 4. T-Bill Band 4 Sub Sector Price Index Consumer Product, Plantation, Finance Trading and Services, Industrial, Industrial Products, Construction, Mining, Properties, and Technology. The conceptual framework of this study was derived from literature review where proven macroeconomic variables that effect FBM Kuala Lumpur Composite Index (KLCI) are used as independent variables, Crude oil WTI (West Texas Intermediate) future contract price, Gold Bullion LBM (U$ Troy Ounce) price, and T-bill band 4 had been widely used in evaluating relationship between macroeconomic variables and Sub-sector price index. Further to that, crude oil price is also proven to be a macroeconomic variable that direct impact to the conditional of the stock market. In fact, oil price can affect prices directly by impacting future cash flows or indirectly through an impact on the interest rate used to discount future cash flows. 3.3. Design of Study The Arbitrage Pricing Theory (APT) is an expansion model of Capital Asset Pricing Model (CAPM) Single -factor model. That is, it specifies risk as a function of only one factor, the securitys beta coefficient. In a reality, the risk / return relationship is more complex, with a stocks required return a function of more than one factor. For example, CAPM method is not suitable on this research because there are a various interdependent variables effect the dependent variables. Thus, we should adopt the APT (Arbitrage Pricing Theory) model to define and analyses these factors. A statistical technique that simultaneously develop a mathematical relationship between a single depend variable and two or more independent variables. With the four independent variables the prediction of Y is expressed by the following equation: Regression equation is; Multi-factor Model: Rit = ÃÆ' ¢Ãƒâ€¹Ã¢â‚¬  Ãƒâ€šÃ‚ + BetaMRtMRt + Betaoil Oilt + BetaGoldGoldt+ BetaT-billT-billt (1) Indicators: ÃÆ' ¢Ãƒâ€¹Ã¢â‚¬  Ãƒâ€šÃ‚ = Intercept / Alpha Rit = Return on major sub sector MRt = Market Returns Oilt = Oil Returns Goldt = Gold Returns T-billt= T-bill Returns Where the Sub sector price index is a dependent variable and it shows the return on the Sub sector price index. Beta is constant term and we have four (4) independent variables; Gold price, Oil price, Market returns, and short-term interest rate respectively. We used Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) method to evaluate the relationships between the Gold price, Oil price, Market returns, and short-term interest rate against the ten (10) sub sector price index. The market return was benchmark to the FBM Kuala Lumpur Composite Index (KLCI) composite share price index. Time series of short-term interest rate taken over the T-bill band 4, which is considered to be the short-term interest rate (risk-free interest rate). The first steps, we required to find the return of each independent and dependent variables using below formula: Daily return formula is calculated using as per below: Ri,t = (Pi,t Pi, t-1)/ (Pi, t-1) (2) Where; Ri,t is the price return of ith variable on time t Pi, t is the closing price of day t for variable i. Pi, t-1 is the closing price previous of day t for variable i. Then daily returns are aggregated that are our preliminary input to run regression analysis. The sample period for our study extends from periods 17/04/2000 to 18/04/2011. Then after, used the input and the multi-factor model to run the regression analysis on each interdependent and dependent variable to examine whether each of them have any significant relationship. In additional, sub-part of the analysis section will examine the Gold Oil ratio analysis, the purpose is to determining whether the current Gold Oil ratio is below th e benchmark ratio is either too cheap, or crude oil is too expensive otherwise when ratio is greater than benchmark, oil is either too cheap or gold. Sub-parts of the session will analysis on Gold ratio trend from period 17/04/2000 to 18/04/2011. The mean of gold oil ratio as an indicator for investor to decide whether the gold price is expensive, crude oil prices is cheap or the gold price is cheap, crude oil price is expensive. Using below formula: Gold Ratio = Gold Price0, t / Crude oil Price0, t (3) Where; Gold Price0, t is the closing price of day t for Gold. Crude oil Price0, t is the closing price of day t for Crude oil. CHAPTER 4 FINDINGS AND DISCUSSION This chapter presents the findings of the study and provide a through discussion and analysis of the findings. 4.1 Data Analysis To observe the effect of crude oil price, gold price, market returns, and short-term interest rates, the regression is calculated by using Ordinary Least Square (OLS) estimation procedure. Results are presented in Table 1. Referring to the result obtained from Ordinary Least Square (OLS) analysis, the result found that gold and market return have a positive significant statistical relationship with consumer price index at 5% significant level. These also make a same result for plantation price index. The result implies that gold and market return have a positive significant statistical relationship with plantation price index. Between, the trading and services index shows positive significant relationship with market returns but negative statistical relationship with gold. It implies, when the trading and service price index increase 1% the gold price will decrease 0.011%. Moreover, the regression model is statistically useful in explaining the variation in the Finance, mining, and technology price index with 95% confidence level. The result shows positive significant relationships with market returns. In additional, the industrial, industrial product, and properties price index regression model analysis results shows that market returns have a positive significant statistical relationship with three sub-sector price index. On the other hands, the industrial price index show negative significant statistical relationship with crude oil price at 5% significant level but the industrial product and properties have a positive significant statistical relationship with crude oil price. Finally, from the regression model analysis result found that, only the construction price index has a negative significant statistical relationship with t-bill at 5% significant level and others sub sector price index dont have any statistical relationship with the T-bill. 4.2 Subpart Analysis Gold/ Oil Ratio Gold Oil Ratio is an expressed mathematically as the per-ounce price of gold divided by the cost of a barrel of crude oil, the ratio was telling us how many barrels of oil can be bought with an ounce of gold. Even though oil and gold are thought to be hedging on inflation, their price movements arent in lockstep. Since the 2001 launch of the current bull cycle, the correlation between U.S. benchmark West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude oil and the London morning gold fix is only 23 percent. In fact, its the lack of a tight correlation that makes the gold/oil ratio meaningful. The ratio can fluctuated over time; since 2002, one ounce of gold could have bought between 11 and 16 barrels of oil. In midyear 2008, as oil prices surged, gold scraped a historic low at a 6x multiple (a 6-to-1 ratio). After half year later, the ratio had shoot to the 23x level after massive de-leveraging sent oil prices down $100 a barrel. Over the longer term-say, the past four decades-the average m ultiple has been 15x. Signals: The gold-oil identifies: Buying opportunities (for gold) when the gold-oil ratio turns up at/below 7 barrels/ounce; and Selling opportunities when the gold-oil ratio turns down at/above 12 barrels/ounce. Essay on Comparison of Repression - 479 Words

Comparison of Repression I. Intro: In the month of March, 2004, our English class read three stories. We read: (1) The Story of An Hour, (2) The Sky is Gray, and (3) The Man Who Was Almost A Man. The three stories were not only interesting, but had a common theme. All the stories showed different examples of repression. Repression was shown by the focal character in each story, the families and society. II. Body First, there was repression of these characters by themselves. In The Sky Is Gray, James has suffered with a prolonged toothache. He does not want to worry his mother because he knows they have little money. He exhibits a form of self-repression by not†¦show more content†¦This in turn gets him into more trouble. He appears to be childish to others and does not prove that he is an adult. The Story of An Hour portrays mental oppression through a woman who is married to an overbearing husband. When Louise learns that her husband has been killed, she seeks solitude to grieve, but instead finds comfort in the realization that she is free to live her own life. She realizes she is out from under the strong hold of her domineering husband. When she returns downstairs to the support of her sister and friend, only to find her husband walking through the door. She is startled that she drops dead. She had repressed her own feelings for so long that death held more appeal for her tha n continuing the life her husband had insisted she live. The stories portrayed repression by a family member, also. In The Sky is Gray, James was repressed by his mother because she always wanted him to learn by tough love. She was always teaching him lessons on how to become a man; therefore he rarely enjoyed his childhood. In The Story of An Hour, Louise was repressed by her sister, Josephine, because she viewed Louise and weak because of her heart condition. This resulted in Josephine not wanting to break the news of Louises husbands death. Norse Mythology - 2497 Words

This essay is written for English 503 and the subject is Norse Mythology. The main sources of our knowledge about Norse Mythology are from the Poetic Edda and the Prose Edda. Edda is Icelandic for saga and these stories are often to as The Sagas. The Prose Edda was written by Snorri Sturluson from Iceland around the year 1200. Snorri begins the prologue of the book where he explains his understanding of the origin of heathen science. Prose Edda itself is based on belief in the old Nordic gods or heathen, and recounts and explains the faith of men before they were Christian. The book is divided into three main parts, but they are called the Gylfaginning, Skaldskaparmal and Hattatal. In the first section, Gylfaginning (The delusion of King†¦show more content†¦He had a golden ring that could multiply into eight other rings, there we can see similarities with the story The lord of the rings after John Ronald Reuel Tolkien, in the book there is one ring who rules them all and to gether they are nine rings, three were given to the elves, nine to the humans and seven to the dwarfs but there was one that ruled them all witch is very similar to Odin’s ring because it was one that multiplied. Also all of the dwarfs names in the lord of the ring they come from prophecy of the seeress in Snorri’s Prose Edda. Odin only has one eye because he gave it away for a drink from Mimir‘s magic well. It was told that Mimir was the wisest of them all and it was told that anyone who would drink from the well would gain the wisdom of Mimir. Odin was desperate to get wiser and powerful so he returned his eye for a drink from the well. He was now known for being the wisest god of them all and the one with one eye (Norse Mythology, 2010). Odin is related with various other gods in Indo-European religions. For Greeks, it is Zeus. Together, they should be attributed to destroy. Both have unfaithful wives, what shows up best in that they have many children with ot her women, although Zeus has more. Statistics and Business Research Methods Text and Cases

Question: Discuss about the Statistics and Business Research Methods for Text and Cases. Answer: Introduction Human Resource Management is one of the important resources in the organization. On the contrary, lean HRM is the recent practice that has been evolving in the sector. It is majorly concerned with the cultural dynamics, people and leadership that are needed for the structure of the organization. Lean HRM is the modern trends that introduces cheaper and fast processes and are focused on adding value to the employees (Rajappan, 2011). However, in this research, lean HRM will be examined in a practical context by evaluating the concept of lean HRM and its techniques. Even more, the research will be substantiated if the study is supported by primary data that will be initiated in the research. Nevertheless, as the research is concerned, the study will guided through methodologies as well as plan which will help in guiding through the research outcomes. Literature Review Traditional Human Resource Management Zirar, Radnor Charlwood (2015) recognized human resource management incorporates people related guidelines that are implemented to manage and bring flexibility at the workplace by focusing on the policies, programmes, practices and philosophies. As a function, traditional HRM was more considered with the work in the business that enabled three functions namely providing HR functions that is through recruitment and selection, classification, training followed by regulations on the personnel laws and thirdly, establishing the main role in enhancing organizational performance. Lean Human Resource Management When Lean and continuous Improvement was applied to the organization, it mainly focused on human related issues that promoted the change in organization culture. The lean HRM can only be achieved through use of certain techniques like Six Sigma that not only links the HRM to the organization more effectively but rather lays a base to profitability of the organization. The prerequisite requirements for lean HRM include management commitment, open communication, organizational cultural change, team working and training employees (Sparrow, Hird Cooper, 2014). There are two facets of Lean HRM; firstly, it is evident that it itself is a HR function and secondly, it is an ideal position to be a powerful ally in lean transformation by virtue of interactions. The following diagram below will give an overview of lean HRM. Figure: Lean Human Resource Management Source: (Human Resource: Washington Government, 2016) Importance of Lean HRM The lean HR roles improve when different techniques are applied based on different models and shared results. On the other hand, the improved efforts provide tools and resources for continuous improvement that helps in facilitating cross functional communication and coordinate training. The organizational change is nurtured and monitored by leadership to create a new environment for the staff to perform. In addition, the lean HRM techniques help in ensuring compliance by using minimal time, cost and effort (Aswathappa, 2013). Need of Lean HRM The need of lean operation plan in Human Resource Management is for the firm achieves success based on its value propositions as well as fir targets that not only helps in retention of the employees but also helps in maintaining its target clients (Tyagi, et al., 2015). According to Wealth management, RIA Trent Report, study evaluated on the best practices that can be integrated for profitability, operations and best practices is Lean Six Sigma for Service justifies that 30-80% of servicing costs are a waste and add no value from the perspective of the client. However, to get started the company should ensure profitability on operations plan that deems on companys objectives; gauge ROI of the improvements, timeline and cost (Goldman, 2016). Role of Lean Human Resource Management in Six-Sigma Six-Sigma is a structure method that ensures to improve the business processes that supported by assorted DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improveand Control) by an assortment of statistical tool. However, an organization mindset is based on the decisions that need to be undertaken based on the measured data that not only looks for the problems but also defines defects based on customer rather than internal requirements through the indicator to prevent them from happening (Pyzdek Keller, 2014). The roles and responsibilities of Six Sigma are given using the figure below. Figure: Six Sigma Roles and Responsibilities Source: (Pyzdek Keller, 2014) Research Questions The research questions that highlight the understanding of the study are: What is the substantial role of lean HRM in establishing the financial practicality in any organization? How lean HRM can be termed effective when it comes to an individual or the market as a whole in a business set up? What are the suggested recommendation that needs to be carried out to improve the lean practices undertaken in an organization and the way it can positively impact the profitability of the organization? Although, the research question will help in evaluating the study but to test the relationship between Lean HRM and profitability, following hypothesis is carried out. Ho: Lean HRM does not have any significant impact on the profitability of the organization. H1: Lean HRM have a positive yet significant impact on the profitability of the organization. Research Methodologies The research methodologies adopted for based on certain research inputs that can be effective in predicting the future outcomes of the research. However, the data collected and the methods used will help in determining the relationship between learn HRM and profitability of the organization. Research Approach A deductive research approach is followed in the research as it will help in outlining the phenomenon based on the research hypothesis that needs to be established. Moreover, this approach emphasizes on causality by testing the theory in new emerging area in the discipline (Engel Schutt, 2014). The theory is dealt to provide a pattern in research on the emerging analysis on lean human resource management. The research can be directed as given below. Figure: Deductive Approach Source: (Brymen, 2015) Research Design The deductive research procedure has been adopted to provide intrinsic details on the research study that not only highlights the employee and managers details but also establishes a link between the two. Brymen Bell (2015) perceived that a simple random sampling would be convenient when it comes to choosing the data procedure. Research Strategy The research strategy that have been adopted in the model are based on survey method and interview method. Survey method will help in gathering facts. However, survey method will be serving the study by collecting essential facts on lean human resource management techniques (Rubin Babbie, 2016). On the other hand, interview method will provide valuable information to the employees and managers, it shows how the profitability position of the organization and how lean human resource management techniques have helped in achieving the same. Interview methods were personally taken through face to face conversations or through telephone and the questions were unstructured in nature (Seidman, 2013). Project Plan Task Start Date Duration End Date Literature Review 3-Dec 60.00 3-Feb Data Collection 2-Feb 29.00 2-Mar Data Analysis 2-Mar 30.00 3-Apr Final Report Submission 5-Apr 60.00 5-Jun Research Process The research process will be guided in the following stages: Stage 1 This stage deals provides the base of the research topic by providing suitable literature review. However, the stage is analysed based on the lean human resource management technique that is suitable to assess the performance of the employee as well as the managers in the organization. Stage 2 This stage deals with the carrying out of the research methods that are essential in data analysis and the procedures that will help in acknowledging the results of the research. Stage 3 This stage establishes the data analysis on the research strategies whether it has to be qualitative or quantitative method. Moreover, if qualitative then the interview method and quantitative then the survey method will be analysed on the given questionnaires to the employees as well as managers of different business enterprises. The sample would be structured on 50 middle ranked employees and 6 managers from different organizations for survey method and the interview method. In total, a sample size of 56 respondents would be considered. Stage 4 On the whole, a timeline will be devised that is time as well as cost effective that had been undertaken in carrying out the research h. Stage 5 This is the ultimate stage when the expected outcomes of the research will be evaluated based on the research. Data Collection Methods The data collection method adopted for the research has been both qualitative and quantitative in will be nature. The qualitative method with the help of interview method will be devised based on the interaction with the employees and the managers of the organizations. This will also helps in acknowledging the ideas, knowledge and the attitudes of the employees in the organization (Scheyvens, 2014). However, qualitative research is beneficial for the research to analyse the lean HRM techniques has been one of the part in the organization for maintaining its profitable situations as shown in the annual report. Conversely, quantitative method will be analysed on the questionnaire that would be distributed to get mathematical, statistical yet meaningful analysis. However, the relationship of independent variable profitability and dependent variable lean HRM techniques can provide a methodological outline in establishing a relationship between the two (Davies Hughes, 2014). Both the interview as well as survey design would be based on primary data collection methods as different lean HRM techniques would be applied on different techniques but more emphasis will be given on six sigma approach as it is one of the popular lean approach applied in the organizations (Timans, 2014). Data Analysis The interpretation of the data will help the researcher to draw conclusions to the research study. The research will be evaluated on the responses gathered from the survey as well as interview method and it will be evaluated using MS Excel (Jackson, 2015). However, the analysis will be based on frequency tables, normal probability plots, regression analysis and correlation analysis of the lean HRM techniques applied in the organization. The financial data taken from the annual reports of the organization will hold an important part in data analysis. Expected Outcomes The research outcomes that can be drawn from the research study are respective of the different organization conditions that have undertaken different lean HRM techniques to increase the profitability of the organization. Moreover, these techniques are supported only when the organization is large and there is large inflow and outflow of quantity of goods taking place. However, many manager feel that it has a considerable amount of impact on the profitability of the organization whereas the same cannot be said for all the organizations in Australia. Although, lean HRM techniques has been a prominent development in the human resource development but there is considerable cost and time that has been undertaken at the initial stages which might create a hurdle in the profitability of the organization. However, only those organizations have adopted who are substantially sound and incurring variable costs would not add considerable change in their profitable conditions as there is lot of mechanisms and training of employees involved.
